2023 Nissan Ariya EV Takes Top Prize at Texas Auto Roundup
The 2023 Nissan Ariya was named “Electric Vehicle of Texas” at the 2023 Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) Auto Roundup. The event, which took place on March 27-28 at Eagles Canyon Raceway in Decatur, Texas, saw automotive journalists and content creators evaluate various vehicles and vote based on their interior, exterior, value, performance, and overall personal appeal.
The jurors evaluated vehicles within each model’s category and against the entire fleet of vehicles that participated in the Auto Roundup. After careful evaluation, the 2023 Nissan Ariya stood out from the competition and impressed the jurors with its beautiful design, excellent capability, competitive pricing, and generous space. Teia Collier, TAWA president, said, “We are honored to name the Nissan Ariya the Electric Vehicle of Texas. Ariya stood out from the competition and impressed our jurors with a combination of beautiful design, excellent capability, competitive pricing, and generous space.”
The Nissan Ariya TAWA win is noteworthy as Texas is the U.S.’ 3rd largest auto market in the country. The state has nearly 7.8 million registered vehicles as of 2022. Also, given an increasing but still limited selection of EVs in the market, the Nissan Ariya is a standout against competitors in its segment like the Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach E, and Volkswagen ID.4.
As of this writing, the Nissan Ariya is not available for the U.S. $7500 Federal Tax Credit since it is produced in Japan.
This year marked the second year for the Electric Vehicle of Texas award, which is one of four title awards at the TAWA Auto Roundup. The TAWA Auto Roundup was launched in 2003 as a complement to its well-known annual Truck Rodeo.
