Marriott International, which owns nearly 8,600 hotels worldwide, has announced a new partnership with EV Connect to tackle the increasing demand for electric vehicle (EV) charging options. Experts predict that 14 million electric cars will be on the road by the end of next year.

The partnership is Marriott’s first major step into providing a full-service charging solution for EV drivers. With EV Connect’s help, Marriott plans to set up and manage new charging stations at various hotel locations in the United States and Canada.

Ram Ambatipudi, Senior Vice President of Business Development at EV Connect, said, “As the world shifts towards sustainable energy and clean transportation, hotels and resorts that provide charging facilities for EVs can attract guests who prioritize sustainability and carbon-neutral travel. This collaboration between EV Connect and Marriott marks a major advancement of the EV market’s expansion, and it has significant implications for the hospitality sector as a whole.”

Marriott properties will utilize EV Connect’s platform, designed for simple setup to manage and optimize charging stations. Additionally, the platform offers Marriott the flexibility to select the specific charging hardware suitable for the individual needs of each location.

Andrew Bodziak, Senior Vice President of Global Operations at Marriott International, noted, “Our guests increasingly expect EV charging stations at our properties, and this collaboration will help us meet rapidly evolving consumer demand and further the company’s sustainability goals.”

Guests will be able to find and pay for EV charging stations at Marriott properties through the EV Connect app.
